They are. They’re just about the most complicated thing out there. I prefer to hope they’re fine and just ignore them.
Earlier today someone released the bind
package for Emacs, which “simplifies binding keys”. This is a very popular idea, and has even been implemented variously at various times by various people. I’m not just talking Emacs. The whole history of computing has been one giant battleground in the war between the mind and the body.
Wait, what?
The keyboard is a mind-computer interface, mediated thru drivers. The computer takes raw numbers from the keys, and countless layers of software turn those into pixel changes on the screen and beyond.
It’s madness, and I can’t believe we pretend to understand it.
